Saints free agent Cornerback Alontae Taylor shared a reflective post on X looking back on his contributions not only on the field, but his impact in the New Orleans community.
Taylor is seeking a lucrative 2nd contract and expects to be paid like a top corner in the league.
Prior to the 2025 trade deadline it was rumored the Bears and Colts were interested in the 5th year corner. The Colts managed to land Sauce Gardener but the Bears could still be in the market for his services, a move that would reunite him with Dennis Allen.
The Saints appear to have cheaper options already available.
According to PFF Alontae Taylor played 566 snaps in the slot and 295 as a traditional corner. His remaining snaps were spread between Box (170) and as a rusher (24) along with a lone snap (1) at Free Safety.
Returning 4th round CB Quincy Riley played (570) snaps as a traditional corner, and seems to be inline for an increase in snaps in 2026. He also has the edge of being drafted with an eye for Brandon Staley's scheme.
Second year Safety Jonas Sanker looked to be miscast as a deep safety and could prove more impactful from the Star/Slot position where he can leverage his 1.51 10 yard split triggering downhill from the box in the run game and his coverage match abilities vs big bodied Tight-Ends.
With two in-house replacements on the roster Taylor's time with the Saints could be over.
