I'm convinced the average Saints fan would be willing to eat a bowl of gumbo with uncooked rice because they're walking dead levels of famished, and too impatient to wait for the rice to finish.
Only desperate teams force young Quarterbacks into the lineup early. Franchises picking high that have access to the drafts top prospects at that position are picking that high for a reason.
They're atrocious, so they're pressured to start a young QB because they must.
However, the best franchises around the league like the Packers, Eagles, and Chiefs understand that the NFL is a developmental league, and developing young signal callers involves letting them grow into the position with the least amount of pressure possible. Andy Reid credits Patrick Mahomes having the luxury of sitting behind Alex Smith for a season as monumental in his maturation.
The Saints don't have an Alex Smith, but they do have a 2nd year signal caller in Spencer Rattler, and four former QBs on the coaching staff that will allow Tyler Shough to sit a grow for as long as he needs to maximize his potential. Could be a year, could be mid-season depending on circumstances, but ultimately holding a clipboard and running the scout team will only prove beneficial for Shough.
Besides, it's easier to go from Rattler to Shough, than the reverse because if things went awry and you had to bench the rookie for poor play, it would be a not-so-subtle admission that he should have never been named starter.
Patience is virtue. I know you just got off from work, and you're hungry but let the rice finish cooking...you'll enjoy the gumbo more.

I hope he does well, I do not want him to fail
Any one with good sense knows Rattler deserves a fresh start with a full deck of cards. His rookie season wasn't fair to him.
The RIGHT take ... for both QBs
