If they haven't, Saints should be among teams calling Eagles about acquiring A.J. Brown

Something just struck me.

A.J. Brown won a Super Bowl

A.J. Brown has gotten paid

A.J. Browns team is successful

A.J. Brown is not happy.

In a vacuum those truths are interesting because they could be interpreted as a character flaw, the Diva WR, but then you read this quote and you realize his motivation is more complex.

"I know everybody's counting on me — that's my thrill," he said to The Athletic's Brooks Kubena. "And then I come through. That makes me proud of myself. And I'm doing it over and over again. And then I got another opportunity a couple of plays later. Third down. Everybody knows the ball's coming to me. I love that feeling. Like, it's a rush. I don't do drugs, but that has to be what drugs feels like. And I'm getting that dopamine. And I'm coming through for my team again.

"And that's where the excitement comes from. And that's why it's frustrating at times. And maybe people really misunderstand me as a player, but those feelings — that's what I want. You may see a little frustration. It's because I really want to contribute. I really want to help this team win. But if I'm not getting the ball, obviously, it's not as fun."

Brown is malcontent because he doesn’t feel he’s helping the Eagles win and the Saints desperately need someone who can help them win.

Jalen Hurts no longer requires A.J. Brown to be successful, but Tyler Shough could use a veteran security blanket. It’s a privilege that most young franchise QBs are afforded to help with development.

Monitoring the Eagles/Brown relationship and how it progresses or regresses leading up to the NFL trade deadline on November 4th should be squarely on the Saints radar.
